Dog Friendly Beaches On Florida Gulf Coast
So, where do you go on a quiet, dog-friendly beach? We recommend the Florida Council. In particular, a large part of the ocean from the coast of Mexico to St. Marks is popularly known as “The Forgotten Sea”.

Begin your journey by landing at the Visitor Center in Port St. Joe. It is practical and more than willing to help. But they are really happy to see our dogs, they invite them!
The town of Port Saint is not very large, and sightseeing can be done in a few hours. We started with the BayWalk, a paved path from Frank Peat Park to the marina and the amazing views of St. The road takes you to the historic Cap San Blas, built 130 years ago and moved here in 2014.
Something you won’t find in Port St. Joe there are many hotels on the beach. There are a number of pet-friendly hotel options, but many people choose vacation rentals for their stay.

Just nine miles south of downtown on Port St., Salinas Park is a great dog-friendly beach destination. It’s stunning, with sugary sand and gentle breezes – everything you’d want from a dog beach on the Florida Panhandle.
Dogs and pets are allowed on the beach every day. Horses are also allowed on the beach here. The parking lot sells cars.
Continuing to the west of Salinas National Park, Cape San Blas juts out into the Gulf of Mexico. Part of this short finger of land was preserved by T.H. State Park of Monument Stone San Jose.
The park has a zoo and allows animals in the natural areas and trails. Surrounded by water on three sides, it is a great place to stroll and enjoy a picnic lunch.
City Dog Goes To Florida: A Gulf Coast Vacation
Florida State Parks do not allow pets on the beaches. But read on – there are public beaches and lots of places to explore!
Florida State Pet Policy Most state parks allow pets in designated day-use areas. Highlights include, but are not limited to Eli Schiller Homosassa Springs State Park Wildlife and Waikiwache National Park. Pets must be kept no more than six feet away and be well behaved at all times. Pet owners are advised to pick up pet waste and dispose of it properly. Pets are not allowed on the beach or playgrounds, restrooms, bars, park buildings or shopping areas. The 28-kilometer barrier island of St. George is divided into three parts. Nine miles east of St. George State Park is protected. The center has excellent access to the beach, residential areas, restaurants, shops and businesses. West End is an exclusive, gated community with its own jetty and some of the most expensive homes on the Gulf of Mexico.
Our first stop was at a state park, and we found that the grounds and trails were wild, but the beach was not. Still, it’s nice to have some variety, and our dogs really enjoyed the 2.5 mile Gap Point trail through pine forests. (The parking lot is on campus, and the trail is to the left of the stadium.)
Florida Pet Friendly Hotels
After the ride, it’s time to hit the soft sea creatures again! Return to the city of St. George, where the public beaches go wild – all day, all year!
As Port St. Joe, the primary residence here is a vacation rental. Although the St. George Inn has a few pet-friendly rooms, there are several pet-friendly hotels in Apalachicola, just 12 miles away.
Of all the Florida Panhandle beaches we visited, Alligator Point was the quietest and most secluded. The nearest grocery store was about 30 miles away, but with eight miles of mountain wilderness – who needs to eat?!
Net dogs are welcome here all day, all year! And with huge shells scattered on the beach, it’s a fun place to visit.

The only exception is Bruce St. doctor George Julian, where the animals live in the fields and streets, but not on the banks of the park.
Carrabelle Beach is a beautiful, quiet beach at the bottom of St. George. This gentle sea animal is perfect for a relaxing day in the sun with your four-legged family!
The best part? Your dog can be kicked on the beach as long as your pet responds to your commands. This means your dog can splash and play in the water!
You’ll find calm waters and soft sand here, so it’s a great place to play and maybe even take a nap!

Miramar Beach residents must apply for a permit to walk their working dogs on the beach. A fee of about $40 will get you a one-year license.
Even the beach is just beautiful! The white sand and clear blue water make for a wonderful experience while walking your cat.
Is there anything better than the warm waters and white sand beaches you’ll find in the Gulf of Mexico? Of course not! And these seas will welcome your pets with open … wings.
Some of the seas here are wild! There are no restrictions on when they can be – any time is a beast. Just make sure your dog is on the line! Another thing to look out for is the turtle eggs! You have to make sure your dog doesn’t dig near them, of course.
