While we’ve taken a hiatus from international travel during the pandemic, we’re excited to re-discover the Seattle area and its amazing (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After ten years in New York and Chicago, it’s been fun to come back and rediscover old favorites and see all the innovative glamping sites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with these beachside fire pits. Although this cabin on the Oregon Coast is just minutes from Seattle, the beautiful modern interior and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean make the drive worth it. My New Year’s resolution is to stay at the Dream Lodge in St. Petersburg. Edwards – it’s only a half hour drive outside the city so it’s easy. I’ve been dreaming of getting into one of those Insta-famous A-frames for far too long, and decided to make it happen this year. Tye River Cabin Co. offers three different stunning A-frame cabins tucked away in the heart of the National Forest Mountains. Baker-Snoqualmie and all three accept pets for a fee. In 2019, we had a blissful Easter weekend in Semiahmood, and I was looking for an opportunity to return to the beautiful scenery and secret beaches that Lizzie loves to explore. Just minutes from the Canadian border, this cozy resort is a great base for exploring Washington’s North Shore’s stunning scenery and great hiking. They are very dog friendly and welcome puppies with their own bowls, beds and (at least during our visit) souvenirs. Learn more about dogs here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite out of town trips. An hour and a half north of Seattle, head to this charming downtown beach town full of charming shops, delicious cafes, and waterfront views. I love a unique vacation and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts definitely delivers. These tiny houses were designed by Seattle architects Olson Kundig as a modern version of camping. The luxury resort on Hood Canal has been proudly petting pups since 1913, and with its wide selection of Fido-friendly accessories, we can believe it. Make memories by renting kayaks, hiking, or just enjoying the view. Read instructions for dogs here.
Well, it’s not technically available yet, but we’ve signed up for an alert so that we can order these awesome Olympic National Park RVs as soon as they hit the market. They offer comfort beyond conventional camping and provide a remote and sustainable way to get out into nature. I’m excited about the beautiful new Water’s Edge Suites at this historic Orcas Island Inn, complete with private balconies overlooking the bay. If you’ve never heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We’ve visited them twice (blogging here while traveling to Vermont and Maine) and each trip has been wonderful. Basically, they build luxury safari tents on exclusive private properties, like this beautiful fruit farm near Meade, Washington. It’s a bit far from Seattle, Idaho, but you’ll definitely want to drive to stay at this aerial view point. Plus the little details like the sauna and the antique coffee grinder really melt my heart.
