We stayed at the dog-friendly Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. This hotel is located high above the St. Lawrence River and looks like a castle in the sky. A five star luxury hotel, it is the most photographed hotel in the world! The hotel allows up to two pets of any size for an additional fee of C$50 per night.

The hotel’s interior was fully decorated for the holidays, and there were Christmas trees with luxurious decorations in the corridors. It didn’t take us long to check in and we were so surprised that Gatsby just waited patiently in line with us, even after the long drive. The hotel staff made sure that Gatsby was well taken care of. He doesn’t eat snacks, so we asked the hotel to prepare salmon and grilled meats for him. The crew even asked Gatsby if his salmon was cooked to the right temperature!

The best thing about Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is that they offer dog sitting services! We hired a nanny to come over when Danny and I went out to dinner or dog sledding. They charged $26 per hour (CAD) for a 3 hour minimum to have a nanny come to our room to watch Gatsby. You can leave a sitter in your room or take your dog for a walk and play in the snow park right in front of the hotel.

We walked with Gatsby on Dufferin Terrace, the terrace surrounding the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac hotel. This elevated position offers panoramic views of Old Quebec and St. Lawrence Island. There is a huge slide where people line up at the top of the slide (270 feet high) to ride down the hill on a slide that reaches speeds of 60 mph to the bottom! Gatsby stayed here and enjoyed watching people slide down the slide!

The German Christmas market is open from November 22 to December 23, and we were able to enjoy the last day of the holiday market. We walked through the market and found beautiful handicrafts made in Quebec, as well as products such as Nuremberg gingerbread, German Christmas cakes and other German products such as sausages, pretzels, wine and more.

Mont Tremblant With Your Dog: Pet Friendly Accommodations, Dining, & Activities

The next place we visited was the Quartier Petit Champlain area. This place is a true holiday destination and Instagram worthy! The narrow cobbled streets here are decorated with Christmas lights and decorations. I enjoyed visiting the boutiques and some even let Gatsby join me.

Place Royale is just steps from the Petit Champlain district, where we visited Notre-Dame de Victoire, the oldest Roman Catholic church in North America.

Head to Canotier Square, a landscaped plaza along the St. Lawrence River. Here Gatsby played in the snow, and we walked right by the river, admiring the large ice caps.

Unfortunately, we were unable to dine at any of the restaurants in the area because there were no tables available outside. During the warm season, restaurants have outdoor tables.
