North York Moors E Guide
Remember: When planning a trip with your dog, you should check the current pet policies of the places you plan to visit as they can sometimes change. With plenty of dog-friendly places, York is a city for you and your four-legged friend to explore and enjoy. Whether you’re looking for historical sites, culinary experiences or great dog walks, York offers countless options to keep anyone’s tail wagging. The Moors, then the Black Swan offer the perfect elegant yet warm and cozy abode.
As I continue my 10-week Walk in the Park adventure, I’m grateful for the roaring fire and my elegant, classic country room.
Joining me for this part of the trip were my friends Swety and Alethea, who accompanied me for the first three days of the North York Moors journey. During this challenging period, it’s great to have a companion to encourage me.
Alethea also brought her dog (someone plays with Koki!). So there was definitely chaos in the room, but they eventually calmed down!

Black Swan was incredibly friendly and dog-friendly, making us all instantly feel at home and for me, that ticked all the boxes.
The North York Moors have a bold and dramatic landscape, making the area one of the most popular national parks in the country.
But after a day of climbing in this rugged terrain, there is no better feeling than returning to a cozy, traditional yet luxurious hotel with hearty food.
North Yorkshire The Moors (as the name suggests) cover a large part of North Yorkshire. It is a stunning landscape known for its diverse topography and vast iconic heathers as well as its fascinating historical significance.

While I’ve been lucky enough to experience all ten of England’s beautiful national parks, the North York Moors are quite unique with their drama and golden atmosphere – for other book fans, it’s a real treat. it’s easy to see why Emily Brontë was inspired to use it as a national park landscape to span the heights.
I was invited to stay at the Black Swan as part of my walking tour, but as always, this is my honest review.
The Black Swan is not only a famous, award-winning hotel today, but has also been a popular stop for travelers for hundreds of years.
The Black Swan is part of the Inn Collection Group, which includes many of the hotels I stayed at during the A Walk in the Parks challenge, including Bamburgh Castle Inn and Northallerton Inn.
Dog Friendly Cottages In York
The kind of place you want to return to. It’s the ultimate in classic country style and warm, inviting warmth.
We chose a family room with bunk beds, which was perfect for our group. This also means there’s plenty of space for the two dogs, who fall asleep even faster than us after a walk!
We were all delighted when we discovered the room had a bathroom! After such a long trip, it was amazing. My friend somehow managed to carry some essential oils in her backpack so we took turns bathing in ultimate luxury. Just what our tired bones needed.
Overall, the space is filled with luxurious and elegant designs but still feels like a true home away from home.
The Ultimate Guide To Exploring Dog Friendly New York City
After a full day of hiking, the last thing we wanted to do was go looking for food again! That’s why we really wanted to try the local Black Swan pub and restaurant. And it didn’t disappoint me.
The food is excellent – with many dishes home-cooked and fresh, local ingredients – and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Plus, the restaurant is just as dog-friendly as the rest of the hotel so we all felt completely at home.
We went there for dinner, but the restaurant also offers hearty breakfasts and (as expected) an authentic Yorkshire roast dinner with homemade Yorkshire puddings.
