Choosing the right hotel for any dog-friendly trip is important If you’re traveling with your dog for the first time, check out this blog post where I explain how to choose a pet-friendly hotel.

My parents had their big dog, Lupo; We traveled with our 10 year old Coton de Toller Choosing the right hotel for all of us and our dogs is important

Dog Friendly Guide To Montreal

We stayed at the Hotel Port Royal, near Quebec Harbor and Old Quebec We didn’t use a car during our 3 day stay and it’s a very convenient location

The daily pet service fee is $25/day (which is a little strange since our room was considered unclean during our stay due to COVID. But we expect pet fees when traveling, so it takes a little effort to plan for them.

They have a coffee maker in their room Love to have a small kitchen with stove top and toaster It was very convenient because we brought our own breakfast and snacks, but especially Henry’s food was kept in the fridge and freezer.

Since we were on the first floor, we had our own patio where we could sit outside without the dogs bothering us. A great place to have breakfast and spend time together

The neighboring restaurant, Louis Tavern and Bar à One, is super cute and allows dogs on the patio (as long as they don’t bark).

In fact, many restaurants are dog-friendly By law, dogs are not allowed in the actual restaurant, but patios are generally dog-friendly But you always need to ask because you deny one place

Our 10-year-old Coton de Toller; While traveling with Lupo; We planned our day around how safe it would be for him to walk Needless to say, it was very hot all week

Our days were spent exploring new trails and places, and within hours of dinner, our dog stayed with Linda, the lovely pet we found in the rover looking after our kids. This was a big help for us as we couldn’t leave the dogs alone in the hotel room.

Planning ahead is key We made all our dinner reservations before we left, so we knew how to schedule the pet sitter It also saves a lot of time waiting in a restaurant and you don’t have to struggle to find it

We recommend planning ahead when traveling with your dog Having a dog with you is an added responsibility, and you want to make sure you are a well-behaved dog owner

And La Bache, a popular Quebecois blockbuster We were able to sit on the patio and hold the dog I recommend asking before you go
