Primarily eucalyptus forest, the Seven Hills Bushland Reserve is located far from the city and in the middle! The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, and along Perrin Creek, rainforest and deciduous trees grow. It’s great music for the whole family, and of course your kids will enjoy it too.
Dog Friendly Cairns
Tingalpa Creek Sanctuary in Kaalaba West is a great place to let your dog out into nature. You can see some of Australia’s most famous animals, including koalas and wallabies. Make your friend angry, just make eye contact – don’t touch.
Surrounded by forest, the Acacia Trail is a scenic 2.7km loop on the grassy outskirts of Camp Hill. The music is suitable for all skill levels and is perfect for a relaxing trip with an angry friend.
A pleasant and relaxing path along the flowing water is surrounded by green grass, birds and picnic areas. This area is a favorite with families and cyclists in West Brisbane.
A unique beach excursion, bring your sunscreen for an unforgettable beach trip. Return your hand to the sand bridge that shows the low water between the land and the island. You will also see a variety of birds and sand crabs. Dogs are allowed on weekends only.

Perfect for running with your best friends, this trail offers stunning views of Brisbane amidst eucalyptus forests. Keep your eyes peeled for 370 species of animals and 450 species of plants from the area along the way.

Located in the heart of Brisbane, this route is a circular tour through Orleigh Park and the West End. Walk along the Brisbane River and stop at a roadside cafe or restaurant. You can decide to complete the entire circuit or finish early in the morning, either way it’s a great walk with your local dog.
Winding through beautiful eucalyptus forests, the trail is mostly flat, but there are some hills (which will get your heart racing). Smell the honey and hear the chirping of the grasshoppers as you pass by the beehives. It’s a peaceful walk for the dog.
Dog Friendly Places To Stop On A Sydney To Brisbane Road Trip With Your Best Furry Friend
If you’re only traveling for work and not for pleasure, this is a great option for those who want more exercise and less sightseeing. Bring your long-legged dog along for a trail hike and get some great exercise up high.
You will need good balance to make this trip. The road has many steps, loose rocks, uneven sections and many obstacles on the way. This 2-hour tour is full of famous views of Kut-ta Mountain and Eucalyptus Forest. Great exercise for you and your furry friend.
Less than an hour south of the city, the sandstone delights. The Wickham Peak Trail offers a challenging experience with scenic rock formations. Along the way you will find beautiful plants and animals. Dogs are allowed on a leash throughout the park.
Take a day trip to Amamoor State Forest, 2 hours north of Brisbane. Amamoor State Forest is known for its Bunya Pine, Red Cedar, Ring Pine and White Cedar trees, as well as some of Queensland’s best swimming holes. The trail is a gentle climb up to Cook’s Handle Lighthouse. Start at the Amama Day Use Area and Picnic Area near Amamoor Creek Road and follow the variety of trails north.

Driving to Cape York is one of the things many Australians do when visiting Queensland. Luckily, you don’t have to leave your pup behind when you try this out, as the dog can join you for the trip and get a final photo in Cape York.
Of course, there are restrictions on whether dogs can travel to or from Cape York, so plan your trip ahead of time and check the rules. Many other dog travelers can offer advice.
Unfortunately, there are no 4WD vehicles around Australia so we have yet to complete this bucket list experience. If you only have a 2WD vehicle, I recommend heading to the hot dog town of Cooktown, a dog-friendly town full of dogs.

Even if you don’t make it all the way to Cape York, or even down the Queensland coast, along the way you’ll pass some stunningly beautiful beaches that are dog-friendly even if you’re on a leash. Don’t forget to stop at many of them to swim or just walk on the sand. Easy to check off your bucket list!
After traveling with my dog in eastern Queensland, I’ve put together a list of the best dog-friendly beaches in tropical Queensland from North Queensland to the Gold Coast. For each beach, I double-check the rules for allowing dogs (mostly on leashes), but for any new signs.
Be careful when walking your dog on the beaches of North Queensland. From as far north as Gladstone, both crocodiles and manta rays are dangerous. Check the signs at local beaches, and when in doubt, play on the sand away from the water’s edge.
The best places to hunt dinosaurs in Australia are the Queensland Outback, especially between Winton, Richmond and Hughenden. Not all attractions and museums are dog-friendly, but there are still plenty of dog-related things to do.

The best option for dogs is to visit the Flinders Discovery Center in Hughenden. A small local art museum that has a photo wall of four-legged visitors and welcomes dogs to join you.
The museum’s exhibit is “Hughy,” a life-size replica of the 7-meter-long Muttaburrasaurus skeleton found at the site. There are also large fossils such as dinosaur bones. The museum recently reopened after a major renovation with new exhibits and a cafe.
In Richmond, you can take a selfie with your dog with the Kronosaurus statue outside the Australian Maritime Museum, Kronosaurus Corner. However, ask about purchasing a permit to visit a local game reserve where dogs are allowed to join you. Hunting is also strong in Hugend.
Vinton is a tri-city star attraction. Not far from the city is the National Museum of the Age of Dinosaurs, which has Australia’s largest collection of dinosaurs. Barns are on site, though
