However, not all day trips are completely family-friendly. Many national parks and public spaces are pet-free zones, which means your four-legged best friend can’t accompany you on your adventures.
The good news is that if you take one of these 11-day tours, your dog is welcome.
Although national parks are generally pet-free, there are still plenty of trails and walks outside of Perth that welcome well-behaved, reserved dogs. The 1872 Railway Heritage Trail in Jarrahdale is one of these. The 10km walk is long but beautiful and passes through native jarrah trees and wandoo bush. Start from the small car park on Nettleton Road and follow the old wooden tramway around Gingagup Creek to return to your starting point.

Look for wildflowers along the trail from September to November. Walk slowly down the road, stopping for a picnic and admiring the view of the Darling Cliffs.
Grab your pup’s favorite ball and head to the fenced-in dog park on Oakley Road for some unhindered fun. It is the safest area around Carin Marsh where dogs can play off-leash in certain situations. When they’re not interested in playing with the agility equipment strewn around or digging in the sandbox, there are always other dogs in the park to keep them entertained.
Dogs must be on a leash when they leave the dog park and walk about 1.5 miles around the nearby wetlands. Since there are lots of birds and grazing horses nearby, you don’t want them to be tempted to run off and play.
Munda Biddi Road and Bibbulmun Tk pass through Dwellingup. However, if you want to take your four-legged friend hiking, head to the Chuditch Trail. This 7km semi-circular trail follows the Murray River in Lane Pool Reserve, starting at Nanga Mill Camp and ending at Chuditch Camp. TK is wide and has a gentle slope, perfect for a leisurely morning walk.

Complete all or part of the trail, then refuel at a nearby dog-friendly cafe. Park outside and enjoy a burger with a view of the water pumps at the Waypoints Cafe, or try a homemade cake under the shade of the vines at the Blue Wren Cafe.
