Hannafore Beach is a popular choice for dog owners in the summer. It is a mixture of sand and silt with rock formations on the beach. Woody has tons of friends to play with every time we visit and I love getting to know the locals and vacationers. There’s plenty of room for everyone, especially at low tide, so you’ll never feel cramped.

Hannafore Beach is family friendly, especially in the summer. The stalls offer a variety of snacks as well as hot and cold drinks. Woody even convinced someone to share a strawberry ice cream last time we visited, but he decided he wasn’t a fan of the flavor. There are also public restrooms near the Coast Guard. These facilities are mostly open during the summer, but nearby Lue has year-round facilities.

Woody enjoys exploring the rock pools at Hannafor Beach. He is incredibly agile with his nose pointed at the ground. I prefer a relaxed approach, sitting by the sea wall and enjoying the view. Woody always finds someone to play with at Hannafor Beach, whether it’s the local dog-loving kids or the vacationing pup who came with his family. Everyone at Hannafor is so friendly.
We love swimming in the ocean in the summer and exploring the rock pools in the winter months. There is a clear path that leads to the sea. This was great for building Woody’s water confidence as I could get in the water with him. The beach overlooks the Isle of Louis, a marine reserve managed by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. You can take a ferry to Lou Island, but it is not dog friendly. Instead, we appreciate the view of Hannafore Beach.
Hannafor is known for rock drifts, especially at low tide. There are all kinds of sea anemones and crustaceans. Make sure to walk carefully around the rocks as the seaweed can be slippery. It’s also important to put everything back where it came from and leave any rock pools you found when you left.
I was happy to find one of the clean #2 minute beach signs near Hannafor Beach. The organization is working hard to pick up litter on UK beaches with its popular hashtag. Trash cans, garbage bags and other supplies are available on the boardwalk, and beachgoers are encouraged to contribute and share their finds on social media. We always try to grab any plastic or sea glass we come across on the beach, it’s amazing how quickly you can build up a collection.

If you plan to participate in beach cleanups on your next trip, be sure to dispose of any plastic or trash properly. The last thing we want is for it to go out to sea in the opposite current. I have a habit of keeping trash bags in my car so I can always pick up plastic from the beach after a ride. If possible, I put it in the household recycling, otherwise it ends up in the trash. The pristine farmland is picturesque with a magnificent lake at the heart of the park. It is a hotspot for some of Cornwall’s much-loved wildlife, including deer, geese and freshwater fish.

The dogs and I stayed at 3 Valley View, a family friendly, modern lodge located at the back of the property. Laminate flooring (except carpet in the bedrooms) for easy cleaning after muddy walks. I really appreciated how easy it was to cover parts of the lodge like the bedrooms when the dogs got wet. The open floor plan had plenty of room for them to dry off after our walk.
