Sublime Point Lookout: Rising from the town of Leura towards the Jamison Valley, Sublime Point is located outside the national park. The lookout is a 5-minute walk from the parking lot and even has a couple of quaint picnic tables near the top of the point.
Cahill Lookout – This lookout at the western edge of Katoomba overlooks the Megalong Valley and its farmland. He is known as a sunset watcher. Parking is free in the small lot, as are picnic tables. A sign next to the car park indicates local cliff walks.

Dog Friendly Hikes Near Denver — Adventures Of Alice Bug
One of the most popular hikes for dogs is the South Lawson Falls Loop Track. I recommend starting from the location marked on Google as “Five Falls Hike South Parking.” From here you can take a short 600m return hike to Cataract Falls or complete the full 2.5km loop, visiting four beautiful waterfalls.
Please note that it can be muddy and it is best to take smaller dogs up one of the many steps. There is also a chain link bridge near the start, which most dogs don’t like, so consider letting them cross the river. Puppies have plenty of opportunities to frolic in the water, which is perfect for hot days.
NOTE: As of March 2022, a small section of the walkway is temporarily closed due to a rockfall, but recently visitors have been able to avoid it.
If you’ve already hunted the falls in South Lawson with your dog, another great dog-friendly hike is the Horseshoe Falls Trail in Hazelbrook. 700m walk of moderate difficulty from Auckland Road to Horseshoe Falls. Or walk another 1km to Auckland and Burgess Falls.

If you hike to Burgess Falls, allow 2 hours for the return trip. Dogs should be leashed and the hike is best after rain when the waterfalls are tumbling, but be prepared for a muddy trail.
For a paved walk without the mud, consider visiting the western end of the Prince Henry Cliff Walk in Katoomba. The 1.3km section between the old Katoomba Falls bandstand and Cliff View near Katoomba Falls is outside the national park and dogs are allowed on leads.
If you are in the Blue Mountains after dark, you can also do this walk at night when it becomes the Katoomba Falls Night Light Walk. The lights come on at dusk and stay on until 10:30 p.m., culminating at Katoomba Falls.

Campbell Rhododendron Gardens is located in Blackheath and is open all year round, entry is by donation. The main flowering time for rhododendrons is from early October to mid-November, when the Rhodo tea houses are also open.
There are many maples and other deciduous trees in the gardens, making autumn a great time to visit, although we consider late May to be too late for the season. Please note that dogs must be on a leash at all times.
Another park in the Blue Mountains that you can visit is Breenhold Gardens, located at the northern end of the Blue Mountains on Mount Wilson.

One of the attractions of the valley is the Megalong Valley tea rooms. Founded in 1956, the tea houses are famous for their pork pies and apples. Open daily from 9am, they offer an all-day menu for breakfast and lunch. There is a large outside dog area, plenty of space for dogs and children, as well as a small covered outside area.
