Pet-friendly resorts are more fun to spend with the amenities that come with them. In some cases, there are packages that will give you even more.
When you take your dog with you to a resort, they often provide a little something special for your pet as well. This can be a huge advantage if you don’t want to find pet-friendly places, things to do, etc. and just want to soak up everything the site has to offer.
This is a great way to introduce you and your dog to pet-friendly travel because you’ll be staying at a dog-friendly resort that will tell you where or where you can take your dog.
Dog Friendly Road Trips: 10 Places To Take Your Dog
A big advantage of pet-friendly resorts is that they tend to be expensive. Whether you think it’s worth it is up to you, but sometimes a dog-friendly pet package is worth it in hot spots like Mackinac Island, where you’ll pay almost a penny for hotels.
Also, if you’re not camping (most dogs are welcome at no extra charge), you’ll pay a standard hotel pet fee, usually a daily fee.
For example, Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island has a resort fee of $100.00 per stay. If you stay there for 4 nights, it will be $25 per day. Quality Inn down isle, their pet fee is $25 USD per day for smaller amenities and services. No offense, Quality Inn, I’m using you to make my point. Do you understand what I mean?
Another way to make staying at a resort cheaper is to go during low season or when they offer some promotional packages.

Mission Point Resort is one of the only pet-friendly resorts on the island. Not only are dogs allowed, they welcome them with open arms. They also have a resident dog on site, Nick the Border Collie, who you can follow on Instagram @nickatthepoint.
Currently their pet fee is $100 per stay. They also offer a pet package called Pooch at the Point that includes a two-night stay for your dog, pet fee, breakfast, boat ticket and concierge services.

The ranch is located near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and has a variety of accommodations.
What’s really nice about Homestead is that their pet fee is included in the price when booking. Reserving specific pet-friendly rooms is a bit tricky, so I would call to make a reservation.
Pet friendly rooms are located at Fiddler’s Pond Inn. They have a limited number, so this will be something you’ll need to order in advance.
When you are a guest at the homestead, you will receive exclusive benefits such as unlimited access to the pool, hot tub, kayak and canoe rentals, golf course discounts, priority spa reservations and more. See all services here.

Pets are allowed at Crystal Mountain Resort, although there are no special pet packages. They detail exactly where your dog is not allowed in the resort, which is very helpful.

Another popular ski resort, Boyne Mountain Resort, is located south of Petoskey. We went without Kirby last fall and enjoyed the heated pool and chair lift rides. We went golfing at Albanon and it was a fantastic course. They also have another route, a monument they say is more challenging.
Like the resorts above, they also have a spa and offer a variety of activities and amenities in winter and summer.
